Naming Things

The という grammar pattern is used to give the names of items or people, generally when speaking to someone who is not familiar with that item or person.

[name] という [item]  ->  [item] called "[name]"

Today I met a dog called Bobo.

レコードの店で「クイズ」というアルバムを見つけた。

ペルソナというゲームをしたの?
Have you played a game called "Persona"?
